Mark-Roberts-Revell-Landscaping

Meet Mark – Revell Landscaping’s General Manager. A love of the outdoors kickstarted Mark’s landscaping career 20 years ago. Since then, he’s spent time on the tools creating and constructing landscapes, completed a cert 4 in Landscape Design and now spends his time working with the trades and clients making sure every job runs smoothly.

We’ve asked Mark a few questions to get to know him better!

Why did you choose landscaping as your career?

I’ve always loved working in the outdoors and with things that are natural. It’s also very creative and satisfying to see the end results of your efforts when you transform an outdoor space for someone.

How long have you been in the landscaping industry?

20 years

Favourite project you’ve worked on?

This is a hard one as there’s been many great projects over the years. My favourite is probably the Hovea bush block we worked on – you can see the portfolio of it here. Being in the Hills of Perth, the block already has a stunning backdrop, so it was great to be able to work on the design and construction that perfectly complemented the natural surrounding beauty, and fit into our client’s lifestyle.

Notable highlights in your career?

After working on the tools for many years, I decided to do some further study and go for my cert 4 in Landscape Design. Since then i’ve been able to progress my career beyond the tools and into project management, which has been fantastic. I love working with our clients to turn their outdoor landscapes into a space that they enjoy and cherish.

Where is your favourite local garden or outdoor space?

My favourite local is called “Centenary Park” in Belmont. I go there with the kids all the time and there’s not many other places we’d rather be. It’s got a good playground, lake with native flora and fauna, playing fields, a good bike track around the lake and exercise equipment…something for all seasons really.

What is your favourite landscaping feature or trend?

Natural stone features and good outdoor lighting can really transform an outdoor area and take it to the next level.

Who or what inspires you the most when it comes to creating a new space?

There’s so much inspiration in nature itself. From colours, to textures and materials – it’s a great place to start looking for inspiration. Nature inspired designs are a big trend at the moment, especially in public outdoor spaces.
