Schoolyard Nature Playground
Researchers, educators and parents alike are recognising the benefits of nature play – getting back to basics, playing in sand, with mud, with sticks stones and without structured playground equipment. As the benefits of nature play become more widely accepted the popularity of nature playgrounds is increasing.
Revell Landscaping are at the forefront of nature playground design and construction as can be seen with this recent project at St Colomba’s Catholic Primary School in Bayswater.
St Colomba’s approach Revell Landscaping to develop a natural playground area that would provide an inspiring, adventurous and creative environment for its children to spend their free play time.
Key features of the nature playground include a fire pit, fort, cubby house, creek bed, water pump, deck and deck seating for a performance area.
To achieve an authentic nature experience, materials used include stone, timber logs, recycled materials, wood chips, gravel along with a selection of native plants.
The timber decking area links the nature playground to the main school buildings and neutral coloured shade sails have been installed to provide sun protection during play times.
In addition the being a favourite play space for the children of St Colomba, the area also provides a performance space and an outdoor classroom environment for special activities.
SIX THINGS OUR CUSTOMERS LOVE ABOUT REVELL LANDSCAPING
To the Revell Team,
What a lovely surprise to receive the Box of Goodies this morning!!
We were very surprised and want to say ‘Thank you’ very much, very kind.
We are absolutely thrilled with the renovation done to the back area of the property. From being part of the planning, the continued feedback along the journey and coupled with the Great Team that made it all happen.
At all stages the workmen were professional and careful with all they did and the final work reflects this.
We couldn’t have been more pleased and look forward to enjoying our new living space for years to come.Graeme & Dee
We engaged the services of Revell Landscaping the complete our backyard landscape project. Since we built our house eight years ago, it’s the one area that we’ve wanted to change and we’re so glad we finally went through the process and did it!
We found the team were great to work with; they listened to our ideas and were able to incorporate all our specifications like a pool and a fire pit beautifully into the layout. The project came in under budget, so we we’re able to add some finishing touches like lighting to really complete the overall transformation.
The construction team were very respectful of our home and were very clean and friendly – which was important for us, as we have young kids so didn’t want to create any hazards that they could hurt themselves on.
From Tony in the office to Steve and Mark on site, the entire team were so friendly and approachable. The communication was exemplarily and at all times were felt entirely in the loop as to the progress with the job – especially as it was taking place over the busy festive season.
We’ve been loving spending time outside as a family in the pool and we can’t wait to have our friends over to entertain around the fire pit!Lisa & Colin
Just wanted to thank you on behalf of Paul, myself and our family on the beautiful hamper you sent us yesterday; it was a lovely surprise when I got home from work and is such a lovely gesture.
Our sincere thanks also for giving us the beautiful outdoor spaces to complement our renovation. We’ve been using both areas over the Christmas/New year break and really enjoying and relaxing in these areas. We really appreciate the effort you and all your staff put in to getting all the work completed for us by Christmas; I know it wasn’t easy.Susan & Paul
